Hospital and Pediatrician Partnerships
-
When a child experiences an anoxic brain injury, parents are thrown into a world of uncertainty, grief, and overwhelming medical decisions. Too often, they leave the hospital with more questions than answers and little emotional support.
At FAIR, we believe that early intervention, education, and peer support can make a life-changing difference. That’s why we’re partnering with hospitals, pediatricians, and rehab centers to provide families with the resources, guidance, and community they need—starting on day one.
-
Drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death for children under 5, yet most parents don’t realize the risk until it’s too late. Pediatricians are in a unique position to educate families before a tragedy occurs.

When a child is admitted to the hospital with an anoxic brain injury, parents face a life-altering crisis. Hospitals and rehab centers can help by ensuring families have immediate access to education, community, and peer support.
How We Support Hospitals & Families
Family Resource Packets – Printable guides for ICU and rehab units, covering:
✔ Anoxic brain injury basics
✔ What to expect in recovery & rehab
✔ Caregiver mental health resources
Support Network Referrals – Connecting families with other parents navigating anoxic brain injury.
Pediatric Rehab Outreach – Partnering with rehab centers to provide alternative therapy education and caregiver mental health resources.
-
The best guidance often comes from someone who has already walked this road—someone who truly understands.
Through FAIR’s Parent Sponsor Program, we connect newly affected families with experienced parents who can provide:
✔ Emotional support from someone who’s been there
✔ Encouragement and reassurance during the most challenging moments
✔ guidance on navigating rehab, therapies, and long-term care
✔ A listening ear to share the struggles and victories of this journey
How It Works
Step 1: When a child is newly diagnosed, a hospital social worker or family liaison refers parents to FAIR.
Step 2: We match them with a trained Parent Sponsor—a parent who has been through a similar experience and can offer support.
Step 3: The Parent Sponsor reaches out within 24-48 hours to provide encouragement, answer questions, and be there.
Why This Matters
88% of drowning deaths happen when at least one parent is supervising.
Pediatricians can help reduce drownings simply by educating parents at well-child checkups.
Hospitals can improve family outcomes by providing support, community, and therapy resources from day one.
